Want the very, very best RSV4 Aprilia can make? Here it is.

Designated X as in the roman numerals 10 and limited to just 10 machines, the X is the highest specification of the RSV4 platform ever released to the public—with all machines already spoken for. That makes the X instantly the most collectable RSV4 ever made. Annoying, we know.

The X has the numbers to back up the exclusivity. Aprilia is claiming 364 pounds dry, some 26 pounds less than the RSV4 1100 that we tested elsewhere in this issue.

Under the all carbon faring lurks 222 hp from an Aprilia Racing-tuned 1078cc V4, with new cams, valve springs, and cylinder head work carried out in the same guise as what’s allowed in WorldSBK.

Interestingly, the engineers have moved the neutral position to below first gear so you’ll never get a neutral when shifting from the long first gear to second. Aprilia has an acronym for this in the ANN (Aprilia No Neutral), and the system even speeds up the already fast shift from first to second.

The RSV4 X costs under the WorldSBK limit of $44,987, setting the lucky customer back $44,785. But seeing as they are all sold and likely to only ever see the inside of a museum or the (very) occasional track day, if you even get the chance to purchase one in the future, you can bet it’ll cost a lot more than that.CN
