Today, we’re unboxing and assembling one of the coolest little test bikes we’ve received: the 2018 STACYC 12EDRIVE stability cycle.
If you’re in possession of one of these little bikes, don’t worry, putting it together is is an extremely easy task. Clearly the designers of the STACYC value riding over wrenching. Nice!

Assembling the 2018 STACYC 12EDRIVE stability cycle
This is everything you’ll need to take the STACYC from shipping to ripping.
- Knife/multi-tool to open the packaging
- 5mm Allen wrench
- 6mm Allen wrench
- 15mm wrench
- Electrical outlet to plug the charger in
- Air pump to top off the tires
- About fifteen minutes plus battery charge time – under an hour, total, to be riding.
About the only thing that requires fairly strict attention is aligning the front wheel and torquing the top stem bolt (we used a handy bicycle torque wrench) It’s one of the easiest children’s products we’ve ever put together. Just remember to tighten the front wheel nuts. In fact, it’s wise to do a once-over on all the fasteners before letting your child ride anything and the same applies here.
What is a STACYC?
The STACYC (Stability Cycle) combines easy-to-learn, non-intimidating balance, walking, and coasting experience of a traditional stability bike (like a Strider) with the powered-up fun and more advanced maneuvers of kid-sized electric motorcycles (like an Oset or GasGas “e-trials” bike). By merging the two products into one, STACYC is intended to take an absolute beginner at all things two wheels and turn them into a rider in a progression of skills and supervision. From standing to twisting a throttle, STACYC can do it all.
We’ll have a full feature on the STACYC 12EDRIVE, as well as the larger 16EDRIVE, and how they’re working for our new riders, soon.
