Slightly lighter than the 1200, the new 950 is yet another bike Ducati is hoping to lure new riders into the fold with.

Ducati has taken the wraps off the long-awaited little brother to the Multistrada 1200 in Milan, unveiling the Multistrada 950 to the world’s press.

The 950 uses the same basic chassis design and geometry as the 1200 – even the seat height is nearly identical at 33 inches – but Ducati claims the new machine is lighter (by how much, we don’t know) to give a more dynamic and easy-riding feel over the 1200.

The 950 actually has more in common with the Enduro 1200 than the standard Multistrada, with a 19 inch front wheel giving a hint of off-road capability to go with the 170mm of front suspension travel.

The new Multi’s engine is a 11° 937cc desmodromic L-twin, delivering a claimed 113hp at 9,000 rpm and 70.9 lb-ft of torque at 7,750 rpm. As expected, the machine comes with Ducati’s four throttle riding modes (Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro), so as to keep the four-bikes-in-one moniker that stared with the original Multistrada 1200 back in 2011.

The 950 is also graced with the Ducati Safety Pack that includes the Bosch 9.1 MP ABS (with three levels of adjustment) and the eight-stage Ducati Traction Control system. This system’s fitment means the 950 misses out on the Bosch IMU/Cornering ABS system fitted to the 1200.

Ducati claims the new 950 is good for 9,000 miles between services, with valves only checked at 18,000.
